We are on our third consecutive week of happy times at our house. B is going down at 7 and has been sleeping through the night almost without fail. A couple of minor interruptions along the way, but by and large we are in fantastic shape. He makes ‘nary a peep when we put him in his crib now, and recently has taken to actually REACHING OUT for his crib as we’re doing some soothing bouncing/snuggling/singing in the lead-up time to putting him down. He doesn’t fall asleep immediately most nights, but he talks quietly to himself for a few minutes then goes silent. Very cute…Thank you again for the advice and pep talks.  This has been a total game-changer.  No more blaming the baby for sleep deprivation!

When I first began to talk to Lori regarding sleep training my 8 month old boy, I went into it thinking that I had nothing to lose by trying. I also felt like the possibility of us making it through it was slim. My sister believes in co-sleeping, my husband did not want to hear any crying at all, and my parents actually built him a baby hammock swing so that he could continue to be soothed in that way all night as needed.  Meanwhile, I was noticing that my baby boy was not sleeping for more than 15 minutes without needing either to nurse or be rocked. During the day, his eyes were red and the poor thing was so sleep deprived, at times nothing helped to soothe him. I was also completely tied up with him.  I couldn’t spend any time in the evenings with my 8 year old daughter. I knew something needed to be done.

I followed Lori’s individualized and well thought-out plan. She was also very patient to answer many of my questions along the way, and some of them I know were redundant. Lori has a great way of offering support and advice without passing any judgment.

Even I couldn’t believe the results! My son had a rough first night and I almost gave up the plan. It only took a day for me to realize that my baby was really struggling all along anyway.  Lori’s reassurance helped me gain the confidence I needed in the plan to carry it out. After that we made leaps and bounds. The baby began to go to sleep on his own in the crib and sleep through the night within a week. I now have time in the evenings with my daughter and the baby gets the rest that he needs on a daily basis.

As first time parents we never anticipated that 7 months after the delivery of our son we would be hiring a sleep consultant! We read all the pregnancy, delivery, and lactation books available, but no materials prepared us for the stress that comes with trying to soothe an already overtired baby to sleep. Lori helped my 16 month old son get rid of bad bedtime habits when I didn’t know what else to do. My husband and I are right in the middle of the two extremes of “cry it out” and attached parenting. We were struggling with our daughter’s sleep schedule; by 10 months her frequency of waking up, nursing and being soothed raised to about every 2 hours a night. It was exhausting. Aside from our baby, the stress was taking a toll on us and our sanity!  It was then that we contacted Lori.

Apart from this, putting her to bed is no longer a struggle. Even her daytime naps improved and very exact on time. We still can’t believe this is actually happening! She did cry a little on her first night but it was much less than what she anyway did while waking up frequently. Now that we see her sleep 15 hours a day, we realize that our baby was earlier missing out on that much needed sleep.

Adya is a happy baby now and so are her parents. Lori not only restored Adya’s sleep but definitely our husband-wife relationship as well.

When we started to work with Lori our daughter was four months old and we were in a terrible sleep situation. She was waking every 5-15 minutes on most nights so we were like walking zombies. Lori is amazing!! I can’t say enough. There is so much info out there, so many books, so many posts on sleep and sleep training that it is hard to discern what is best. I contacted Lori with Strong Little Sleepers after my 5 month old began waking multiple times after transitioning from swaddling. When we brought our second child home from the hospital, our older son (age 3) began to have terrible issues sleeping in his bed and sleeping through the night.  After two months of bad sleep (and not because of the newborn!) I can't recommend Lori highly enough!! I contacted her because my two-year-old (who had been a fabulous sleeper until shortly before her second birthday) had begun skipping naps more and more frequently, and also waking up for long stretches during the night. Without Lori's sleep plan and support, I have no doubt that my husband and I would still be sleeping in separate rooms, and I would be waking up every 1-2 hours all night long to nurse our daughter back to sleep. After almost 15 months of serious sleep deprivation, I called Lori upon a good friend's recommendation. Before contacting Lori, our almost 15-month old daughter would not nap in her crib at all. She required car rides or stroller walks in order to nap (exhausting for mom!). She woke up frequently throughout the night, and I always ended up caving in the wee hours of morning and sleeping in the guest room adult bed with her. This was bad news all around! We have worked with Lori at Strong Little Sleepers twice now! First with our son Jackson  6 years ago who at 9 months was still nursing several times a night simply for comfort. When you've read all the books and understand the science behind sleep you can really appreciate the personal coaching and guidance that she provides. I contacted Lori when I knew I needed to make a change with my baby’s  (and my) sleep situation. She was waking every 2-3 hours all night and taking a very long time to put down at bedtime. Naps were a huge struggle. No one was functioning well.  I felt desperate to make a change and needed guidance and support to get me through it. As a first time mama I really lacked confidence to make any changes (what if it made it worse?!) and I had a difficult time believing it was even possible. Lori listened to my concerns and held space for me emotionally throughout the process, which was so valuable for me. When she discussed the final goals of our sleep changes, she mentioned that some babies after sleep training would reach out for the crib at bedtime. I remember laughing and thinking to myself, “yeah right! Not my baby.” Whelp, my baby now reaches for the crib at night. Amazing. The work we did to make this a possibility took significant commitment to consistency and it was hard (although not as hard as I thought in many ways) but Lori was there throughout the process to answer my questions, calm my nerves and keep me on track. She is GOLD. My baby girl now has a new, very valuable skill. Naps are happening, bedtime is quick and the significantly longer stretches of sleep she gets are making all of our lives better.
